Positions Available

Attendants/Birthday Coordinators

KidSpace

School Age Services is hiring part-time Attendants/Birthday Party Coordinators for the KidSpace areas at the Columbia Gym, Supreme Sports Club and the Athletic Club. Attendants/Birthday Party Coordinators provide care for CA members’ children between the ages of 6 weeks and 14 years. Attendants/Coordinators must be able to work on Saturdays between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., and on Sundays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Typically,  the Saturday shifts are 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 12:30 to 7:00 p.m., and the Sunday shifts are 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is a great position for those interested in working in elementary education or child care. SportsPark Attendants

Part-time

The SportsPark in Columbia is currently hiring part-time SportsPark Attendants.  Applicants must be at least 16 years old, able to work during the week and after 7pm.  Responsibilities include monitoring the battings cages, mini-golf and SkatePark; cleaning the park areas and equipment; enforce SportsPark and SkatePark rules; sell food, beverages, admission tickets and tokens to any of the SportsPark areas.  Wage range is $6.65 - $7.00 per hour. Open Space Management Landscape Crew

Gardener 1

The Columbia Association seeks a full-time Gardener 1 to assist with the maintenance of plantings at and around CA’s facilities and parks.  Responsibilities  include mulching, pruning, weeding and installing new annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees. No mowing. Must be able to operate common landscaping equipment and work year ‘round outdoors. One year of experience in landscaping or a related business is preferred but not required.  The hourly rate starts at $11.78 per hour with overtime possible, and full benefits.  Drug/Alcohol testing is required. Assistant Manager, Columbia SportsPark/SkatePark

Part-time

The Columbia SportsPark/SkatePark seeks a part-time SportsPark Assistant Manager.  This position will work side by side with the general manager in ensuring customer satisfaction in a clean and safe environment.  The Assistant Manager is responsible for: team member management; event management and scheduling; shipping and receiving, some accounting processes and cash handling; monitoring the equipment and areas of the SportsPark/SkatePark; some closing and opening of the facility; enforcement of all facility rules.  Previous management experience and reliable transportation is required.  Applicant must be able to work 25-40 hours per week from March - October, and 10 or more hours per week from November - February.  Applicant must be available and able to work between 9-5pm most days of the week.  Starting salary is commensurate with experience.  Please e-mail your cover letter and resume to Matt Basch, Manager of the SportsPark by May 26, 2008 at matt.basch@columbiaassociation.com or call 443-864-003. Skate Camp Instructors, Skateboard Instructors and Inline Skating Instructors

The Columbia SkatePark is currently hiring Skate Camp, Skateboard and Inline Skating Instructors for the June through August season. Responsibilities for all positions include beginning and intermediate instruction for campers and members on skateboards and inline skates. Art Camp Instructors & Counselors

The Columbia Art Center needs Camp Instructors & Counselors for the 2008 camp season.  The session runs from June 23 through August 15th. Staff hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  MUST BE AVAILABLE ALL 8 WEEKS - NO EXCEPTIONS. Instructors teach children (grades K through 8th) art methods, techniques and principles through a variety of creative projects. This is a great position for art students, new art teachers or academic teachers. Both visual and performing arts instructors are encouraged to apply. Counselors and instructors must be able to stand for up to 6 hours, work outside in summer temperatures (although camp is mostly indoors), and attend mandatory camp training. Counselors must be at least 18 years old or a high school graduate. All employees are subject to federal and state background checks. Compensation is $7.20 per hour and up, based on position and experience.

Horticulturist 3

Open Space Management Landscape Crew

Join the landscape crew in managing plantings around Columbia Association facilities. Responsibilities include maintenance and installation of annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees. No mowing. Must demonstrate knowledge of ornamental plants and be able to operate common landscaping equipment.  Experience in professional landscaping or related business is required. Associate’s degree in horticulture or related field is preferred but is not required.  Year round outdoor work.  Hourly rate $16.65 to $16.95 per hour (OT eligible) with benefits.  Drug/Alcohol testing is required. Housekeeper

Columbia Gym

The Columbia Association seeks a housekeeper to care for and maintain the Columbia Gym.  One of the position’s primary responsibilities is the men’s locker room, and CA’s housekeeping and general membership practices permit only male personnel in men’s locker rooms. Other duties include laundry, trash maintenance, sweeping, mopping, and minor mechanical maintenance. Camp Directors’ duties include working with school age campers, planning and implementing camp activities, and supervising programs. CA seeks persons 21 years or older with college degrees and 2 years of documented leadership experience, and a commitment working with youth recreation programs. Compensation begins at $12.50 per hour, depending on experience.

Nature Camp Waterfront Specialist

CA’s Nature Camps seek a Waterfront Specialist.  Current Canoe Instructor Certification, and Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certification are all mandatory.  Duties include supervising all lake front activities, serving as primary canoe instructor, and assisting the Camp Director in developing age-appropriate lessons for campers. Lifeguards’ primary duty is to assure the safety of CA’s campers. Lifeguards must be at least 18 years old, possess current Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certifications, and have experience in organized camping or related experience working with children. Kid Space Attendants/Birthday Party Coordinators

Front Desk Openers

The Columbia Gym in Clarksville seeks service-oriented, friendly, self-starters to fill the position of Front Desk Opener.  The goals for the Front Desk Opener include punctuality, friendliness, and attention to detail.  The focus of the Columbia Gym is providing a welcoming environment for facility members to increase enjoyment and usage of the fitness facility.  Responsibilities of the position include greeting members, answering phones, handling challenges which may arise, handing money, some computer usage, and other duties as needed.  Early morning 5:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. M-F and 6:45-10:00 a.m. Sat. & Sun shifts are available / Some evening hours may also be available.  Starting salary is $8.00/hour.

Requirements:   Friendliness, punctuality, good communication skills, (will train).  Flexibility and open to working with diverse population is essential.
