SportsPark Attendant

CA is currently hiring SportsPark Attendants. Responsibilities include monitoring the batting cages, mini-golf and skate park; cleaning the park areas and equipment; enforcing SportsPark and SkatePark rules; running birthday parties; selling food, beverages, admission passes and tokens to any of the SportsPark areas. Pay range starts from $7.25 per hour. Applicants must be 16 years old and able to acquire a valid work permit. Deadline to apply is February 28.
Skateboarding Instructor

Columbia SkatePark is currently hiring skateboard instructors for summer skate camps, private lessons and group lessons. Camps run from late June to the end of August, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Group lessons are on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and noon. Instructors must have a broad knowledge of skateboarding and will be asked to complete a test, which includes skateboarding in the Columbia SkatePark to show their skill set on the board. Female Lifeguard

To start immediately. Must be available Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12-3pm. CA has an opening for female lifeguards for Female-Only Swim Times. The candidate must be at least 15 years old, mature in judgement, friendly and able to pass a water screening which tests swimming ability. CNSL Assistant Swim Coach

Under the direction of the CNSL Supervisor, the CNSL Assistant Coach shall assist the CNSL Head Coach in organizing and directing the activities associated with operation of the Columbia Neighborhood Swim League program. The Columbia Neighborhood Swim League (CNSL) is primarily an instructional swim league contained within the structure of the CA outdoor pools. The league provides a format in which each swimmer can test his or her performance in actual competition as a part of a team in an atmosphere of fun and good sportsmanship. CNSL is not a U.S. Swimming program and therefore does not try to offer an advanced level of training. It is the coach's job to teach the sport of swimming and to provide an opportunity for all swimmers, regardless of their ability, to have fun and enjoy the sport. The league allows for neighborhood focus for fun! Coaching responsibilities include fostering a sense of TEAM within the CNSL, your staff and the community of your neighborhood; leading by example with good sportsmanship; conducting practices according to the practice schedule set forth by the Swim League; attending all practices and all swim meets unless excused by the Swim League Supervisors; and preparing all line-ups for weekly competition. Lesson Coordinator

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Lesson Coordinator shall organize and direct the activities associated with operation of CA's outdoor pool swimming lesson program at their assigned pool cluster. The Lesson Coordinator will develop and initiate a lesson plan for the variety of swimming lessons that CA offers; work with the Outdoor Pool's management to create an effective range of lesson options that will appeal to the widest consumer base that is possible; plan, organize and schedule using CA computer system CSI; and track a program that will train all of the Lesson Instructors in the proper methods needed to successfully teach children and adults swimming lessons. Also, Lesson Coordinators will maintain an efficient in-service program that is designed to keep the instructors up-to-speed on changes and new initiatives; track the lesson program; prepare all payments for the instructors in a timely basis which coincides with the payroll process; and evaluate each instructor's performance against pre-set criteria and effectiveness at the end of the pool season. The Lesson Coordinator candidate must have a minimum of one year experience in the aquatics industry, a positive service-oriented attitude, and be comfortable using computers. Shed Manager

The Aquatics Department is looking for responsible and energetic people to serve as shed managers. The Shed Manager, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, inventories and orders supplies needed to operate the Outdoor Pools; prepares reports for the Aquatics Director based upon the weekly inventory and pool supply distribution; maintains and distributes pool vacuums and equipment on a pre-scheduled basis; maintains effective and open communications with pool managers via cell phone; and responds immediately to emergency requests for vacuums and supplies. Shed Managers needs to be organized, have the ability to prioritize work, adapt to change quickly and hold a valid driver's licence. New Lifeguard

A Lifeguard candidate must be 15 years old, mature in judgment, friendly and able to pass a water screening which tests swimming ability. You should also know that CA will arrange for your lifeguard, CPR and First Aid training if you are hired. If your birthday is on or before May 26, you can interview for a position as a Lifeguard. The water screening consists of the following: 200-yard swim without resting; 2-minutes treading water while holding both hands out of the water; retrieving a 10-pound diving brick from a minimum depth of 8 feet of water or the deepest part of the pool (up to 12 feet), and bring it to the surface. CA Camps is hiring! We are seeking adults and college graduates interest in Camp Director and Supervisor positions for elementary through high school age camps including adventure, nature, sleep away, and sailing. We are looking for someone to join our team who loves working with children, is reliable, and has a minimum two years of documented leadership experience. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age, and able to work outside in summer temperatures. Compensation is competitive and depends on experience. Meetings and small duties begin in January 2012, camp begins in June 2012. Day camp requirements are 8:15am-4pm. Background checks required.
